Upcycling Process

Step 1
100 Year Old Helmet
We take a 100 year old British firefighter’s helmet, worn by firefighters in the 1920’s, and melt it down to upcycle the brass into our watch crowns. These helmets were named Merryweather and are the proud symbol of our company logo.
Step 2
Moulding Process
The brass from the helmet is then poured into a mould with many branches each containing our firefighter helmet emblem on the end. This allows us to be able change the shape of the brass whilst it’s hot into a new component.
Step 3
Final Product
Once the brass cools off we then break each individual crown away from the branch mould to securely fit it in place to your new watch crown. You can now say that your watch has 100 years of firefighting history.

Fire Hose
Fire hose is such a beautiful material available in a range of striking colours, but is sadly usually thrown into landfill at the end of its life. We give the fire hose a new life in our luxury watch straps available in a range of colours.

1957
Who is William Wood?
William Wood was the name of our Founder’s Late Grandfather. He served in the British Fire Service for 25 years winning commendations for his acts of bravery. He was stationed at Pilgrim Street for the Newcastle & Gateshead Fire Brigade serving on the Blue Watch.
1982
Grandfather & Hero
William retired from the Fire Service in 1982 leaving a lasting impression on his colleagues and his grandson Jonny. His impact and legacy now lives on within our unique watches.
2017
The Match Was Lit
In 2017 our CEO Jonny Garrett founded William Wood Watches. His vision was to create beautifully crafted watches made from firefighting equipment in dedication to his late grandfather, firefighters and first responders internationally.
