Case Measurements:
The case measures 39mm in diameter, with a 14mm thickness and a lug width of 20mm. The watch wears as a small to medium size on an average wrist with it being our smallest case size of 39mm.
Lug to Lug:
The lug to lug measurement is 45mm. This is an important measurement from the top of the north lug to the bottom of the south lug, allowing you to know how much real estate the watch will take up on your wrist.
Case Execution:
Our case is finished in stealth black PVD with a matte smooth finish. The caseback features a modern day British brass firefighter’s helmet design with an exhibition glass in place of the visor looking through to the movement. The caseback engravings such as our limited edition or authenticity markings are applied through laser engraving.
IMPORTANT: The firefighter helmet caseback design will not be straight when you receive your watch due to the caseback having a screw down construction. This means the caseback design will be aligned in whichever position the teeth lock into place.
Movement:
Seiko Group (also known as Time Module) NH35 Automatic Movement with a power reserve of up to 41 hours, 24 jewels accuracy and 21,600 beats per hour. Seiko timekeeping tolerances for the NH35 movement is -20 seconds per day to +40 seconds per day. This durable movement has been produced by Seiko Group for decades and is known as the workhorse in the watch industry. For full power reserve Seiko suggests winding the crown 55 times before use.
Dial Execution:
The dial has a rough charcoal effect finish and a date window located at 3pm which is operated by the watch crown. There is a coloured ring around the outside of the dial that tracks seconds.
Dial Design:
The two batten shaped indices positioned at 12 represent the lapel markings that a Crew Manager wears on their uniform in the UK Fire & Rescue Service. The front of our second hand is inspired by the chime inside of a vintage fire bell and the back of the hand represents the head of a firefighter axe. Our iconic vintage firefighter helmet logo is applied to the dial with microlevel detailing. The indices are finished in rose gold and are filled with C3 grade lume.
Crystal:
The material used in our glass is sapphire crystal with an applied anti-reflective coating. The glass is completely scratch resistant is tinted with a medium blue colour paying tribute to William Wood’s 25 years of service on a shift pattern called The Blue Watch for the Newcastle & Gateshead Fire Brigade.
