William Wood was the name of our founder’s late grandfather. He served in the British Fire Service for 25 years winning commendations for his acts of bravery. He was stationed at Pilgrim Street for the Newcastle & Gateshead Fire Brigade serving on the Blue Watch.
William retired from the Fire Service in 1982 leaving a lasting impression on his colleagues and his grandson Jonny. His impact and legacy now lives on within our unique watches.
In 2016 our CEO Jonny Garrett founded William Wood Watches. His vision was to create beautifully crafted British luxury watches made from upcycled firefighting materials in dedication to his grandfather and firefighters internationally.
We now have customers in over 50 countries worldwide with 4 distinct collections that can compete with the best in the world. We are proud to have donated over £75,000 to International Firefighting Charities and celebrated our 5 year anniversary in March.
We take an original Merryweather Brass Firefighter's Helmet, worn by firefighters in Britain in the 1920's, and melt it inside every William Wood Watch.
All craftsmanship is carried out in the heart of London. We are proud to lock in the legacy of our brave firefighting heroes in every timepiece.
REAL BRITISH FIREFIGHTING HISTORY BEATING THROUGH EVERY COMPONENT
We receive fire hose from different fire services around the world which have come to the end of their life. The majority of fire hose around the world unfortunately ends in landfill. We clean the hose, repurpose it, and sew it into our luxury watch straps.
Each cut of hose has its own unique patina and story to tell. You can explore our full range of upcycled straps here in a choice of different colours.
FIRE HOSE THAT ONCE PROTECTED THE FIRE SERVICE NOW PROTECTS YOUR WRIST
Firefighters around the world wear Fire Gear when entering fires to protect themselves from the uncertain elements that lay inside. The Fire Gear that we use is finished in a sand colour with fluorescent UV stripes to protect them on night call-outs.
We receive the Fire Gear once it has come to the end of its career, then clean and repurpose it into our Fire Kit Straps.
THEY RESCUE LIVES, WE RESCUE MATERIALS
