100 YEAR OLD UPCYCLED

BRITISH BRASS FIREFIGHTER’S HELMET

We take an original British brass firefighter’s helmet, worn by firefighters in the 1920’s, melt it down and place it inside of our watch cases. We set the upcycled brass either inside of our watch crowns or forge it into a commemorative coin that sits inside the caseback of our watches. We are very proud to honour firefighters both past and present by having real firefighting history beating through every William Wood watch.

FIRE HOSE STRAPS

Fire hose is a beautiful and rugged material. But sadly the majority of fire hose makes its way into landfill, which can take up to 100 years to decompose. We wanted to give this incredible material, full of history and heroism, a new life on someones wrist. Fire services around the world donate their decommissioned fire hose to us and we upcycle them in our luxury watch straps. It is an incredibly tough process that we have perfected over the years. The result is a unique, elegant, and above all, comfortable watch strap. Each cut of fire hose that we use in our straps is completely unique to that watch owner, with its own texture, patina and story to tell. We had no idea just how many fire hose colours were used around the world. An exciting part of our journey has been sourcing this unique colours just for you.

We are very proud of our upcycled fire hose straps. But don’t forget that we do offer a stainless steel bracelet option for both our Valiant and Triumph Collection that you can select on each product page. Our bracelet is executed in a brushed 316L grade stainless steel and features quick-release functionality so you don’t require any tools to add or remove the bracelet to your watch.

DESIGNED WITH PURPOSE

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAIL

Did you know that the checkered seconds print running around the outside of the dial is the exact checkered markings off the side of a British Fire Engine. Or that the back of our seconds hand was shaped like a firefighter axe head and the front of the hand is inspired by the chime of a fire bell? Or that we have lightly tinted the glass on each of our watches blue in tribute of William Wood’s 25 years service on the Blue Watch. Every design decision we have taken has a purpose.

LIGHT IN THE DARKEST HOUR

Our Valiant Collection comes with a C3 grade Super-LumiNova disc that sits below the sandwich dial. The lume disc sat below the dial glows through the cut-out indices giving you clear time visibility in the darkest hour. We have also a produced a curved dial and hands that creates and added layer of depth when looking at your watch through the double double sapphire crystal.
